My still life paintings celebrate the power and beauty of domestic spaces and objects. Painted from life in natural light, flowers and produce from local markets and objects culled from daily life are painted larger than life taking on a monumental quality.
As the window disappears in the paintings, the Northwest skies enter and become part of the still life itself. Moving clouds and shifting landscapes record the passage of time and transient nature of beauty. Though the cut flowers are already dying, the paintings capture the brief moment in time before the decay begins and the patterns of passing clouds dissolve.
